The main aim of the teaching of Religious Education within the school is to provide the pupils with a knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religious traditions, represented in the United Kingdom, including Islam, Sikhism and aspects of Judaism. Pupils develop an understanding of the ways in which beliefs influence people’s behaviour, practices and outlook.
As far as possible we seek to encourage a capacity to engage in a search for meaning and purpose in order to enhance the pupils’ own spiritual and moral growth and to foster a positive attitude towards other people who hold religious beliefs different from their own.
We approach our teaching through a wide range of stimuli, including artefacts, books, videos, educational visits, speakers, art, drama and Information Technology and endeavour to teach within the requirements of the County agreed syllabus for R.E.
Any parent who wishes to withdraw their child from R.E. lessons or the act of worship has the right to do so. Please contact school to discuss your views on this matter.
